- The Kremlin has not confirmed information about the candidacy for the post of Russian ambassador to the United States

The name of the new Russian ambassador to the United States will be known after his appointment to the post. This was announced by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Monday, November 25.
"When there is a decree on the appointment, we will immediately inform you," the Russian presidential spokesman said at a briefing, answering a question about the possible candidacy of diplomat Alexander Darchiev.
Peskov noted that the Kremlin press service does not announce personnel appointments.
On the eve of the "Kommersant" published information about the possible appointment of the director of the North America Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexander Darchiev to the post of Russian ambassador to the United States. The Russian Foreign Ministry refused to comment publicly on this information due to legal restrictions.
Earlier, on October 5, Anatoly Antonov finished his work as Russia's ambassador to the United States and left the American territory. He had held the position since August 21, 2017.
Later, on October 7, Peskov said that Russia would appoint its ambassador to the United States in due time due to Antonov's termination in the post. Thus, any downgrading of the Russian diplomatic mission in the United States is out of the question, he pointed out.
