There were 523 traffic accidents in Russia over the weekend


Over the past weekend, 523 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 77 people were killed and 669 injured. 11 of the dead were pedestrians, the other 56 were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on November 25 in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
With the participation of buses on the roads of the Russian Federation 16 accidents were recorded, in which five people were killed, another 33 road users were injured. The cause of 13 accidents involving buses was gross violations of traffic rules committed by drivers of other vehicles.
Thus, in the Tambov region at night during rain on the federal highway R-22 "Caspian" 23-year-old driver of a passenger car drove into the oncoming lane and collided with an intercity bus carrying 20 passengers, after which the bus went off the road and overturned. As a result of the accident, the driver of the car (he had already been brought to administrative responsibility 22 times since receiving his license in February) and his passenger were killed. Nine passengers of the bus required medical aid, five of them were hospitalized with injuries.
As a result of 66 accidents involving minors, 75 young road users were injured (23 pedestrians, 50 passengers and two drivers of motorized vehicles). Four children died, three of whom were passengers of vehicles and one of whom was a pedestrian.
In the Saratov region on a regional highway the driver of a passenger car, last summer deprived of his license for a year and a half for drunk driving, hit a 14-year-old schoolboy who was walking along the edge of the roadway in the opposite direction. The boy died.
In addition, in one of the villages of Dagestan the driver of a passenger car, previously deprived of his driving license for a year for a repeated violation of traffic rules associated with the departure on the oncoming lane, failed to cope with the control, after which the car overturned. The accident killed his six-year-old daughter, who was in the back seat without a child restraint device and was not buckled up. Two more daughters of the car accident perpetrator, born in 2021 and 2024, were injured and ended up in the hospital. Both girls at the time of the accident were also in the back seat without child restraints and did not use seat belts.
In Kalmykia, on a regional highway, the driver of a passenger car hit a truck trailer standing in the opposite direction to him, which had spontaneously disconnected from the tractor shortly before. The collision killed the driver of the passenger car, his 12-year-old daughter (who was in the front and was buckled up) and his 12-year-old nephew (who was in the back and was not buckled up). Two other young passengers, his seven-year-old son and 13-year-old niece, who were also not buckled up and in the back seat, were hospitalized with injuries.
"We urge motorists in conditions of snowfall, blizzard, strong wind, ice and limited visibility to reduce speed and increase the distance to the vehicle ahead, as well as to refuse frequent rearrangements, avoid sharp maneuvers and overtaking, strictly comply with the requirements of traffic rules related to the start of traffic, rearrangement, turning, turning and stopping. Never drive when you are tired or ill, especially if you have health problems due to advanced age or other reasons. Remember that the life and health of other road users depend on your well-being," Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the propaganda department of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.
Snowfall adds problems not only for public utilities, but also for drivers, the State Traffic Inspectorate noted and urged to slow down when approaching crosswalks up to a full stop for safe passage of pedestrians.

In case of introduction of traffic restrictions or closure of road sections due to deteriorating weather conditions, the relevant information is promptly posted in the media, on the website of the State Automobile Inspectorate, as well as on the official pages of the departments of the service in social networks.
November 24, it was reported that the State Duma intends to increase the maximum fine for driving a vehicle without a CMTPL insurance policy by six times - from Br800 to Br5 thousand. The initiative was supported by the government, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and market participants.
