Discussions have resumed in Europe about the possible dispatch of troops or fighters of private military companies (PMCs) to the Ukrainian front. This was reported by Le Monde newspaper on November 25, citing unnamed sources.

"The debate on sending troops to Ukraine, launched with a clamor by [French] President [Emmanuel Macron] during a meeting between Kiev's allies in Paris in February, sparked strong opposition from some European countries, led by Germany. This scenario has not yet been buried," the paper said.

According to the newspaper, these discussions have even "strengthened" in recent weeks, particularly due to the visit to France of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on November 11.

As a result, discussions are underway between the French and British sides regarding defense cooperation, including the creation of a group of allies in Europe "focused on Ukraine and broader European security," Gazeta.Ru added.

Macron has repeatedly said that he does not rule out the possible dispatch of the military. Back in May, he said that a condition for this would be a request from Kiev or a breakthrough of Russian troops on the front. According to him, the caution of European countries would "push Russia into an offensive." Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called such talk very dangerous.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to defend Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
