Representatives of the German public movement Stoppt die Sanktionen (Stop Sanctions) have called on Ukraine to compensate for the damage after the undermining of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. The corresponding statement was published on the website of the organization on November 23.

According to activists, the undermining of gas pipelines was a targeted attack on the FRG and its economy, and the responsibility for this lies with the Ukrainian government and special services.

"Ukraine must bear full responsibility for the damage caused - both physical damage and lost profits," the representatives of the movement emphasized.

They expressed the opinion that the real initiators are still the USA, which "fought the project from the very beginning and are considered the biggest beneficiaries". The activists added that the Ukrainian government should be immediately held accountable.

"The terrorist act against Nord Streams must be immediately and fully compensated - no negotiations, no excuses," the Stoppt die Sanktionen representatives wrote.

Earlier, on November 21, former Ukrainian secret service agent Roman Chervinsky, accused in Germany of blowing up Nord Streams, called the terrorist attack a boon for Germany.

Also that day, Der Spiegel, citing sources, reported that the SP pipeline was blown up by a group of Ukrainians, some of whom had ties to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the past. They specified that the cost of the entire operation amounted to up to $300,000. Ines Peterson, spokesman for the German Federal Supreme Court, responding to Izvestia's question, refused to comment on the latest publications of Der Spiegel magazine, which revealed details of the sabotage on the Nord Streams.

Prior to that, on September 25, the German government confirmed that several arrest warrants had been issued during the investigation into the JV undermining. On September 8, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the country would make every effort to investigate and called for the investigation to be conducted in an unbiased manner. The Kremlin agreed with the call, but Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed to the importance of information sharing instead of leaks.

Leaks at Nord Streams in the Baltic Sea were discovered in September 2022. Two powerful underwater explosions were registered on the pipelines. Traces of explosives were found at the accident site. Russia is seeking an international investigation into the terrorist attacks. In February 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that the CIA was responsible for the explosions.
