The season of Russian walnuts has started at weekend fairs in Moscow. This was reported on November 24 by the press service of the capital's mayor's office.

Farmers bring them from Crimea, Krasnodar Krai, Dagestan and Stavropol. For citizens are presented varieties "aurora", "giant", "almond" and "dessert", reports the agency of city news "Moscow".

Walnuts contain selenium, zinc, magnesium and iron, vitamins E and B, as well as fatty acids. The latter help maintain cardiovascular health, regulate blood pressure, significantly improve brain function and reduce stress levels. Walnuts are also an additional source of protein.

When choosing walnuts, experts advise to pay attention to the fact that the kernels were soft and crunchy with a sweet buttery flavor without strong bitterness, and the shell - light brown, without spots, reports "Moscow 24".

In October, doctor-gastroenterologist of the first category, nutritionist, psychologist of eating behavior Nuria Dianova told about the benefits of nuts. She urged to consume them on a daily basis. According to her, walnuts have a positive effect on the brain in terms of prevention of Alzheimer's diseases. Brazil nuts are a source of selenium, which helps fight against cancer and against skin aging.
