In 2024, one and a half times more applications were submitted for the Moscow program to support scientific developments in medicine. This was announced by the mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin on November 25.

"Record 217 applications were submitted by scientific teams of medical organizations for the city grant program. This is more than one and a half times more than last year," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Sobyanin also noted that the number of research areas of the program increased from 34 to 43 and was supplemented by such branches as medical genetics, sports medicine, endocrinology and others.

According to the mayor of Moscow, the program to support scientific developments in medicine was created in 2022. Grants are allocated annually for the introduction of new methods of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. New developments are evaluated by novelty, relevance and the possibility of rapid implementation.

A total of 142 studies have received grants during the program's operation. The single operator of the initiative is Medtech.

Earlier, on November 18, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that Russian regions will receive an additional 5.5 billion rubles to fully implement all planned federal programs to combat diabetes. Its tasks include early diagnosis of the disease, guaranteed provision of materials and medicines to citizens.

The program was launched on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
