On 25 November, former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on CNN named the factors preventing a speedy settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.

"First, [President Volodymyr] Zelensky (his term expired on May 20. - Ed.) will not leave under pressure. Second, Ukraine will not agree to any quick solution. And third, most importantly, I would like to remind everyone that the key to peace is in Moscow, not in Kiev," he said.

The Ukrainian ex-minister also said that Kiev "does not put on rose-colored glasses" with regard to the new White House composition.

He also commented on the reaction of Ukrainians to the test of the Russian ballistic missile "Oreshnik" on the plant "Yuzhmash" in Dnepropetrovsk.

"I will not hide the fact that people in Ukraine are nervous about this last, final strike," Kuleba said.

On November 22, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said that possible peace talks on the Ukrainian conflict are being distanced because the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have used long-range weapons against Russia. The deputy chairman of the Security Council emphasized that the conflict could have been ended much faster if it had not been for NATO's actions.

Before that, on November 20, Bloomberg wrote that Trump may soon hold talks with Putin on the Ukrainian conflict. The agency also suggested that current President Joe Biden's decision on the use of long-range weapons by Ukraine could serve as an attempt to spoil Trump's chances of resolving the Ukrainian crisis.

Russian President Vladimir Putin named the conditions for negotiations on Ukraine back in June at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Thus, the AFU should leave the territories of the new regions of the Russian Federation, and Kiev needs to abandon the idea of integration into NATO.

The last round of negotiations took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow. On October 4 of the same year, the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on the impossibility of holding talks with Putin was put into effect.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
