On Sunday, November 24, the portal AirportHaber reported that the plane of the Russian airline Azimut caught fire while landing at Antalya International Airport. It was specified that the fire occurred in the engine. The runway was closed and the fire was extinguished. At the same time, the representative of Rosaviatsiya Artem Korenyako said that there were no fatalities as a result of the incident.
Russian diplomats went to the scene to assist Russians on board the plane. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Russian consulate and foreign institutions are working together with Turkish authorities to help with the situation. Later it became known that the passengers of the plane wrote a class action lawsuit against the airline Azimut. The victims indicated in the document that they inhaled carbon monoxide and asked the airline for "proper support".
