Brazil clarifies death toll in bus accident

Brazilian authorities said that the number of dead from 23 to 17 due to the accident with a bus in the state of Alagoas in the northeast of the country has decreased. This was reported on November 24 by the news portal G1.

"The state government confirmed that 23 people died, but later adjusted the number to 17," the portal publication said.

It is specified that 29 passengers received injuries of varying severity and were taken to a regional hospital. The bus was heading to the memorial park Quilombo dos Palmares.

Earlier in the day it was reported that 23 passengers of a tourist bus were killed in an accident in a forest area in Brazil. Surviving passengers, among them children, were hospitalized. Some of them are in serious condition. According to the Alagoas government, the state's network of hospitals has been mobilized to help the injured.
