Trump administration to take up Ukraine talks in January

Work on organizing negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict will start in January. This was stated by Mike Walz, the President's future national security adviser Mike Walz, on the air of Fox News Channel on November 24.
"We need to discuss who's at the table, whether it's going to be an agreement, a cease-fire, how to get both sides to the table, and then what the scope of the deal is. That's what we're going to be working on with this administration[Joe Biden] through January and then beyond," he said.
Walz also noted that U.S. adversaries may think the transition of power is a great time to "pit one administration against another."
"And they're wrong. We are acting hand in hand. In this transition period, the United States and I are one team," Walz emphasized.
Earlier, on November 23, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the West and Kiev will have to go for a dialog with Russia. Merkel also noted that President-elect Donald Trump was right when he said that the countries of Europe spend too little on defense needs.
Prior to that, on November 22, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that possible peace talks on the Ukrainian conflict were getting distant because the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had used long-range weapons against Russia. The deputy chairman of the Security Council emphasized that the conflict could have been ended much faster if it had not been for NATO's actions.
On November 20, Bloomberg wrote that Trump might hold talks with Putin on the Ukrainian conflict in the near future. The agency also suggested that current President Joe Biden's decision on Ukraine's use of long-range weapons could serve as an attempt to spoil Trump's chances of resolving the Ukraine crisis.
Russian President Vladimir Putin named the conditions for negotiations on Ukraine back in June at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry. For example, the AFU should leave the territories of the new regions of the Russian Federation, and Kiev should give up the idea of NATO integration.
