Russia has a new format for exchanging old equipment for new ones

New players are appearing in Russia, offering buyers trade-in, as well as new formats of services for exchanging old equipment for new with additional payment. Market participants told Izvestia about this.

Thus, in the stores of the network "M.Video-Eldorado" will now be able to surrender smartphones of many brands and buy in offset their cost of any product. The main thing is that the device had no visible defects and damage.

"Now you can surrender smartphones of many brands and buy any equipment, such as a refrigerator or TV. It is also possible to surrender several smartphones at once in trade-in and get a discount in one check for a new product," said Denis Golyshev, Deputy General Director of the united retailer.

Network "Svyaz.ON" also intends to launch cross-category trade-in in 2025, not limiting the buyer in the choice of product on which he can get a discount at the expense of the surrendered smartphone. This was told to "Izvestia" by its CEO Dagmara Ivanova. According to her, the company does not plan to put strict restrictions and on the brands that can be exchanged.

In October this year, Avito launched testing of a trade-in program for smartphones, said Pavel Komarov, head of its Electronics and Home Appliances business unit. At the launch stage, the program is available in Moscow, St. Petersburg and 25 other cities.

General Director of TelecomDaily Denis Kuskov notes that trade-in is an attractive tool for buyers: it is more reasonable to exchange an old smartphone for a new one with an additional payment than to keep it in the closet. And not everyone has the time and desire to sell old equipment on the Internet, the expert says.

At the same time, due to the growth of the key rate of the Central Bank and various macroeconomic problems, market participants generally expect that the demand for equipment will decline: cross-category trade-in may become one of the tools to support sales, does not exclude the expert.
