Ambassador Melnyk predicts the most difficult eight weeks in Ukraine's history

The next eight weeks before the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump will be "the most difficult" for Ukraine. Ukraine's ambassador to Brazil Andriy Melnyk said this in an interview with Radio Liberty (a media outlet recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) on November 24.
"Before Trump's inauguration, Ukraine will face difficult weeks in its history, as the newly elected U.S. president seeks to quickly end (the conflict. - Ed.)," Melnyk said and urged Ukrainian diplomats to work more actively with Trump's team.
In his opinion, Ukraine needs to develop several scenarios for conflict resolution to avoid "imposing peaceful solutions from the outside."
"Believe me, my feeling: these eight weeks will be the most responsible and difficult in the history of Ukraine after 1991. That is to say, it has to be decided now. When the day of inauguration comes, I'm afraid, by that time the decision will already be made and then we will be more difficult," he said.
Earlier, on November 23, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term of office expired on May 20, said that Ukraine expects to receive a peace plan from the USA in January. He noted that he was ready to consider proposals from African, Asian and Arab leaders.
On Nov. 22, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, said Trump could end the conflict in Ukraine because Washington has all the tools to end hostilities. He also called Trump a pragmatic man and pointed out that "Washington has all the keys" to resolve the conflict.
The election for the 47th U.S. leader was held on Nov. 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. The next day, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the cessation of military conflicts in the world.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to hold it was taken by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
