Residents of Kursk Region who were taken to Ukraine have returned to Russia and are staying in a temporary accommodation center (TAC) in Kursk. This was announced by regional governor Aleksey Smirnov during a meeting with human rights commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova on November 24.
According to him, the returned residents of the region are fed, warm, comfortable and safe. The living quarters have everything necessary for them, the youngest ones have toys and strollers prepared.
"Work on the return of our compatriots continues, we are doing everything necessary to make it safe for them," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to Smirnov, the Kurians placed in the TAC will be provided with housing, food, medical and psychological assistance. In addition, they will be able to take advantage of various support measures.
Earlier, on November 22, Moskalkova said that 46 residents of Kursk region returned to Russia from Ukraine as a result of the negotiation process. Among the returned citizens are 12 children, including one newborn and a three-year-old child, as well as a wheelchair user.
On September 24, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik, said that the Russian Federation had a roll-call list of Kursk Region residents held by the AFU, and the list had been handed over to law enforcement agencies. The ambassador added that the list was compiled based on reports from relatives of the missing residents of the region.
Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The operation to destroy the AFU continues.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
