Bundestag deputy Rothfuss called for the restoration of Nord Streams

It will be beneficial for Germany to normalize relations with Russia, this process should include the lifting of sanctions and the restoration of Nord Streams. This opinion was shared on November 24 by Bundestag deputy from the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AdG) party Rainer Rothfuss.
"Germany should strive to normalize relations with Russia, lift all sanctions, return to diplomacy and economic ties, including the restoration of Nord Streams," TASS quoted the politician as saying.
The MP called for a short time to initiate an investigation into the mistakes that caused the gas pipelines to be undermined, as well as a number of diplomatic failures that led to the escalation of the confrontation in Ukraine.
To top it all off, Rothfuss believes that some Western media outlets are trying to manipulate public opinion and distort perceptions of the conflict in Ukraine in support of the "military alliance course."
"Despite this, 68% of Germans, according to the poll <...> are in favor of diplomacy rather than further escalation with arms deliveries," he said, adding that this demonstrates that people have their own opinions.
Earlier, on November 21, Der Spiegel quoted sources as saying that the SP gas pipeline was blown up by a group of Ukrainians, some of whom had ties to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the past. They specified that the cost of the whole operation amounted to up to $300 thousand. Ines Peterson, spokeswoman for the German Federal Supreme Court, responding to Izvestia's question, refused to comment on the magazine's latest publications, which revealed details of the sabotage on the Nord Streams.
Prior to that, on September 25, the German government confirmed that several arrest warrants had been issued in the investigation into the JV undermining. On September 8, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the country would make every effort to investigate and called for the investigation to be conducted in an unbiased manner. The Kremlin agreed with the call, but Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed to the importance of information sharing instead of leaks.
Leaks at Nord Streams in the Baltic Sea were discovered in September 2022. Two powerful underwater explosions were registered on the pipelines. Traces of explosives were found at the accident site. Russia is seeking an international investigation into the terrorist attacks. In February 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that the CIA was responsible for the explosions. At the same time, the head of state added that Russia was ready to supply gas to Europe through the surviving pipeline SP-2, according to the website kp.ru.
