Russian Armed Forces defeated the AFU's Shkval assault battalion in the DNR

Units of the Center group of troops have defeated the Shkval assault battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during combat operations on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on November 24.

"The units of the "Center" group of troops continued advancing deep into the enemy's defense, defeated the formations of the 24th, 37th, 100th mechanized, 152nd infantry brigades, the assault battalion "Shkval" of the AFU and the 1st brigade of the National Guard in the areas of the settlements of Shevchenko, Katerinovka, Kleban-Byk, Zarya, Novaya Poltavka and Ulakly of the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said.

In addition, 10 counterattacks by formations of eight brigades of the Ukrainian army were reflected on this territory, including the assault unit "Lyut" of the National Police. In the zone of responsibility of the "Center" the AFU lost up to 380 military, the American armored fighting vehicle (ABM) "MaxxPro", two D-30 howitzers of 122 mm caliber, 152-millimeter howitzer "Msta-B", 152-millimeter gun D-20 and self-propelled artillery installation (SAU) "Gvozdika".

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said the Russian military had struck military airfields, production workshops and drone depots in Ukraine. In addition, the Southern Group of Forces defeated AFU formations in the areas of the towns of Chasov Yar and Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).

At the same time, the ministry said that the Orlan-10 multifunctional unmanned aerial vehicle of the Novorossiysk paratroopers on the Orekhovsky direction in the Zaporizhzhya region detected an accumulation of AFU manpower and equipment, and then corrected an artillery strike of the Airborne Troops (Airborne Forces ) against enemy fighters. "Orlan-10" can be used both for reconnaissance and as a flying electronic warfare (REB) station, suppressing enemy communications.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
