Sberbank named the three most popular fraud schemes in 2024

Account hacking on the "Gosuslugi" portal, calls allegedly from representatives of law enforcement agencies and the Fake Boss scheme have become the most popular among fraudsters in 2024. This was reported on November 24 by the director of the department of counter fraud of Sberbank Sergei Veligodsky.
"I will highlight three common fraud scenarios in 2024: hacking into the victim's account on "Gosuslugi", the Fake Boss scheme - when the victim is contacted on behalf of the head, and the third is a call from agencies: the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Central Bank. Then there are different variants of these scenarios," Veligodsky told RIA Novosti.
The scheme with "Gosuslugi" attackers have changed. They send the victim an e-mail or SMS message, where they write that the portal system has recorded a suspicious entry, and add a number that supposedly should help in such a case. The recipient calls back the number with the confidence that he or she is talking to the security service of "Gosuslugi" and starts doing whatever the fraudsters tell him or her to do.
The expert added that about 40% of all cases of deception are related to hacking "Gosuslugi", reports "Gazeta.Ru".
November 23, an expert of the direction "Popular Front. Analytics" Alla Khrapunova said that there is a new scheme of fraud via messenger Telegram. The user is sent a message with the question: "Is that you in the photo?" The attached picture cannot be looked at, it looks like a file with an APK extension. If it is downloaded, it will install a malicious program on the device, which will pass all the necessary information to the fraudsters.
