Matvienko proposed to hold a "Decade of the Family" in Russia

It is necessary to hold a "Decade of the Family" in Russia to support laws to support family welfare. This was stated by the speaker of the Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko in her blog on November 24.
"I am convinced that the work on the affirmation of family values should be constantly in the focus of attention of the state, society, because the erosion, devaluation of these values is one of the goals of the information, psychological warfare waged against us by the West. Accordingly, the preservation of us as a nation for future generations depends on strengthening the institutions of motherhood, fatherhood and childhood, and the institution of the family in general. This is an existential task," she wrote.
Matviyenko agreed with the position that family policy, like scientific research, does not produce results quickly. She noted that the Sovfed will do its best to help solve the demographic crisis, as well as monitor implementation in the regions.
"It is pleasing that thanks to effective work to preserve our traditional values, there is no drop in interest in creating a family. The majority of our fellow citizens consider a strong family to be the most important value, more than 70% of citizens would like to have a family with two or more children," Matvienko pointed out.
The Speaker emphasized that the initial task is to create all conditions for the implementation of this project.
Earlier, on September 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called increasing the birth rate one of the main priorities of the authorities. For this reason, it is necessary to take all possible measures to increase the birth rate and at the same time eliminate all factors that prevent its growth, Peskov pointed out.
