The conflict in Ukraine was started by the USA and the UK, preventing negotiations. Abdulkadir Selvi, a columnist for the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet, said on November 23.

"This could get out of hand.... It was the US and Britain that started this conflict, it was Boris Johnson who forced Kiev to walk away from the talks," he noted on AHaber TV.

According to Selvi, Russia sent a clear message to the West with the launch of the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM).

"Putin is essentially saying, 'You are challenging us before you come to the negotiating table, I see that and I will use a hypersonic missile.' Now I will use a trump card in the form of a nuclear-tipped missile," the columnist clarified.

Earlier, on November 22, former Russian ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said that the United States and Britain are trying to impose an arms race on Russia with the help of the Ukrainian conflict and called on the countries to stop their escalation actions.

On the same day, former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter called the launch of the Oreshnik a warning to the West that further escalation of the Ukrainian conflict would have consequences.

Prior to that, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state. According to him, the regional conflict has acquired elements of global character. He also announced that the Russian state had tested the Oreshnik missile in response to NATO 's aggressive actions.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
