The State Duma warned the US against supplying Ukraine with JASSM missiles

TheUSA risks "going down a slippery slope" if it approves the delivery of new JASSM cruise missiles to Ukraine. This was reported on November 24 by Duma deputy from the Crimean region, member of the security committee Mikhail Sheremet.

"The U.S. supply of new missiles risks going down a slippery slope, from which they are unlikely to be able to turn. And this road has only one direction - into the abyss," RIA Novosti reports his words .

The MP specified that in this way U.S. President Joe Biden is trying to provoke Russia and escalate the conflict as much as possible.

He also noted that the delivery of these missiles would have no impact on the course of the special military operation (SMO) and would not help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to improve their positions.

Earlier, on September 3, Reuters quoted US officials as saying that the USA was close to an agreement on the transfer of long-range JASSM missiles to Ukraine, but it might take several months to resolve technical issues regarding their delivery. According to the agency, the inclusion of JASSM air-to-surface cruise missiles in the arms package for Kiev will be announced this fall. However, the final decision has not been made yet.

Meanwhile, on November 14, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said that the USA intended to supply Ukraine with all the weapons promised by Biden before he leaves office.

On November 13, White House adviser Jake Sullivan said that Biden would ask Congress for additional funds to support Ukraine before leaving office.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was made by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
