Bloomberg indicated Biden's desire to strengthen Ukraine before Trump's presidency

US President Joe Biden is trying to strengthen Ukraine before the start of Donald Trump's presidential term. This was reported by Bloomberg on November 23.
"The strategy is designed to help [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky by showing that Ukraine has the potential to strike back at Russia if it continues military action," an anonymous source told the agency.
Biden's plan consists of several steps. First, he authorized strikes deep into Russian Federation with U.S. weapons, which "was immediately seen by Moscow and the Trump camp as an unnecessary escalation." Second, the White House approved antipersonnel mines for Ukraine, canceled nearly $5 billion in debt, and imposed sanctions against Gazprombank.
The agency noted that such actions could, on the contrary, help Trump.
"He could use a stronger Ukraine as a bargaining chip to reach a settlement that he could present as a victory," the publication said.
Earlier, on November 23, Zelensky said that Ukraine expects to receive a peace plan from the United States in January. He noted that he was ready to consider proposals from African, Asian and Arab leaders.
On November 22, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that Trump could end the conflict in Ukraine, as Washington has all the tools to end hostilities. He also called Trump a pragmatic man and pointed out that "Washington has all the keys" to resolve the conflict.
The election for the 47th U.S. leader was held on Nov. 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. The next day, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the cessation of military conflicts in the world.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to carry it out was made by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
