The Orlan-10 multifunctional unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Novorossiysk paratroopers has detected an accumulation of Ukrainian Armed Forces' (AFU) living forces and corrected a strike on it by the Airborne Troops' (Airborne Forces) artillery on the Orekhovsky direction in Zaporizhzhya Region. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on November 24.

"Constantly "bird" hangs in the sky, controlling the movement of the enemy. The target is an accumulation of enemy manpower, heavy armored vehicles of the enemy. Constantly in touch with us, respectively, artillerymen, which we correct," - said the head of the UAV calculation with the call sign Codex.

In the course of the next combat duty, the Orlan-10 crew was able to detect an accumulation of enemy troops in the conditions of interference caused by electronic warfare (EW). The drone is equipped with modern optics, thermal imagers and cameras with infrared radiation, thanks to which the calculations were able to transmit the exact coordinates of the detected target to the Russian artillerymen, who struck a precise blow and destroyed the AFU fighters. After that, the scouts confirmed the destruction of the target.

"Orlan-10" is capable of performing various tasks. It can conduct reconnaissance, work as a repeater for communicators, as well as calculate and suppress enemy communications as a flying electronic warfare station. The drone can be launched from any location where a launch catapult can be installed.

The drone is controlled by operators from the control room. One UAV is operated by two people. One controls it and the other keeps watch through a camera.

Earlier, on November 16, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the UAV calculation of the Dnipro group of troops hit a camouflaged AFU mortar on the right bank of the Dnieper River on the Kakhovsky direction in the Kherson region.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
