Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law allowing some participants of the special military operation (SMO) and their spouses to write off overdue loans up to 10 million rubles. This is evidenced by the relevant document published on the official portal of legal information on November 23.
The law terminates obligations under loan agreements of mobilized fighters, conscripts (except for cadets of military schools and universities) and other citizens who signed a contract on service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation from December 1, 2024 for at least a year, as well as their spouses.
Loans may be written off, for which before December 1, 2024 a court act on debt collection was entered and enforcement proceedings were initiated. The amount should not exceed more than 10 million rubles.
It is specified that the proceedings will not be stopped if it is about compensation for harm to the life or health of a citizen, including the death of the breadwinner, corruption offenses, as well as the payment of alimony.
In addition, the law specifies the categories of citizens who are exempted from paying the enforcement fee, they include military personnel, volunteers and other participants of the SWO.
Earlier, on November 20, the Federation Council at the plenary session approved the law.
Before that, on November 14, it became known that payments for injuries in the NWO differentiated. Now servicemen, who have been seriously injured, will receive 3 million rubles. For a minor injury is entitled to 1 million, and for other injuries the payment will amount to Br100 thousand.
