Zakharova noted the key role of the UK in the hybrid war against Russia

The United Kingdom plays a key role in the anti-Russian hybrid war. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on November 23.
She called London a gnarled British empire.
"The Russophobic rot is precisely concentrated in the folds of the gnarled British empire. And there are questions to those in our country who 'don't notice' it," the diplomat wrote in her Telegram channel.
As an example, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry cited the talks between British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Joe Biden. She specified that these actions were proof that London was supporting Ukraine.
In addition, Zakharova said that a number of experts, including domestic ones, have recently started to have opinions that the UK allegedly has no significant influence in the anti-Russian hybrid war. According to her, such claims raise certain questions.
Earlier, on November 13, Zakharova said that the West intends to continue the war against the Russian Federation. According to her, Western countries do not want peace.
In addition, on November 4, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that after the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, Washington and its partners applied more than 21 thousand sanctions against Moscow within the framework of hybrid warfare - in the spheres of economy, finance, trade, investment, media, culture, sports and others. With these actions, London revives the spirit of the Cold War and harms not only developing countries, but also itself.
Before that, on July 31, Zakharova said that the hybrid war unleashed by the U.S. and NATO against Russia could lead to a direct clash of nuclear powers. According to her, Washington and its NATO allies have long been trying to develop the post-Soviet space to the detriment of Russia's security interests.
In July 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), said that a hybrid war was being waged against Russia, but the country was confidently resisting external pressure and sanctions. He also pointed to the unprecedented cohesion of the people.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, is still ongoing. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
