The French and British authorities will be held accountable for assisting Kiev in striking Russian territory with long-range weapons. This was stated by the Russian permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, on 23 November.

According to the envoy, the Ukrainian side is unable to use this type of missiles on its own, as it does not have the technological capabilities to carry out such operations on its own. In this regard, Ulyanov said that the attacks using long-range missiles were organized by NATO countries, Al Mayadeen reported, citing the words of the Russian post-president.

The diplomat also called the US decision dangerous, he noted that those who took these actions to strike, realize their negative consequences, supplemented "Gazeta.Ru".

Turning to France and Britain, Ulyanov noted that these countries are unlikely to want to participate in full-scale conflicts. However, he said that in case of their assistance to Kiev, a response would follow from Russia.

"If France and Britain help Ukraine deploy precision missiles against Russia, they too will "undoubtedly pay," Ulyanov added.

Earlier, on Nov. 20, Bloomberg reported that the AFU used British Storm Shadow missiles to strike Russian territory for the first time. According to the agency, the British government gave Ukraine permission to use these long-range missiles in this way, but considers its own move as an escalation of the conflict. In turn, a spokesman for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer declined to comment on the report.

On November 21, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that Russian air defense forces had shot down two Storm Shadow missiles. On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global conflict. He also said that one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, the Oreshnik ballistic missile, had been tested under combat conditions.

The strike was carried out at the Yuzhmash plant in Dnipropetrovsk. Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People's Republic, called the launch a fair response to Kiev's aggression against peaceful Russian cities. Later in his Telegram channel, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, demanded a reaction from the world.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
