The Russian Armed Forces have eliminated on the ground a MiG-29 aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian air forces. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on November 23.

"A MiG-29 aircraft of the Ukrainian air forces was destroyed on the ground. Air defense means shot down three Hammer guided aerial bombs made in France, eight HIMARS rockets made in the United States and 59 unmanned aerial vehicles of aircraft type," the ministry said in a statement.

The Defense Ministry noted that since the beginning of the special military operation to protect Donbass, the Russian army has destroyed 649 planes, 283 helicopters, 36559 drones, 19491 tanks, 586 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) and a mass of other military equipment belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

In addition, over the past 24 hours, the Russian Armed Forces defeated the formations of three brigades of the Ukrainian army in the areas of the cities of Kharkiv, Volchansk and the village of Liptsy in Kharkiv Region.

Earlier in the day, the ministry published footage of the Russian military's combat work during the liberation of the village of Novodmitrovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). The AFU used evasive maneuvers to destroy the militants. The Russian army's assault groups entered the settlement from different directions, and their progress was corrected by drone operators.

At the same time, the Defense Ministry said that the air defense units of the "South" group of troops destroyed a Ukrainian hexacopter "Baba Yaga" in the skies above the DNR. It is noted that attacks with such equipment usually take place at night, because drones are easy to spot during the day. Observation of the sky is one of the main tasks of anti-aircraft units.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
