Russia has introduced a temporary ban on the export of waste and scrap precious metals. This was reported on November 23 in the Telegram-channel of the Government of the Russian Federation.
It is specified that the restrictions will be in effect from December 1 this year to May 31, 2025.
"The decision will allow to increase the load of Russian refining enterprises," - stated in the Telegram-channel.
According to the Russian government, during the period of restrictions, the export of waste and scrap precious metals, as well as metals clad in precious metals from the country will be suspended. In addition, these measures will affect waste and scrap of electrical and electronic products, which are mainly used to extract precious metals that are important for the country's domestic market.
The ban will not apply to the transportation of cathode antimony in ingots, as well as samples taken from shipments of scrap and waste precious metals, which are exported by refining organizations. It is noted that the weight of one sample should not exceed 500 g in one consignment.
Earlier, on November 1, the press service of Rosfinmonitoring informed Izvestia that the list of signs of suspicious transactions with precious metals will be updated. It is about the guide, which presents 18 signs of unusual transactions with precious metals and stones. Among them are systematic purchase of jewelry, deviation in the value of the product by more than 20%, sale of 10 or more jewelry items by a person.
