Foreign agent politician Shlosberg was detained at Pskov airport

Deputy Chairman of the Yabloko party Lev Shlosberg (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) was detained on November 23 at the airport in Pskov, a source told Izvestiya. The moment of the politician's detention was caught on video.

The reason for the detention was failure to fulfill the status of a foreign agent. After a while, the politician was released from the police station. As the source noted, Shlosberg's laptop, phone and flash drive were confiscated.

Earlier, in mid-October, the office of the Pskov branch of the party was searched. The main investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Pskov region noted that they were conducted in a criminal case against Shlosberg, who has been repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for violation of the Russian legislation on foreign agents. The regional IC pointed out that the Yabloko deputy chairman republished his materials without indicating that they were created by a foreign agent.

Before that, in early October, a search took place in Shlosberg's Pskov apartment. The Investigative Committee said at the time that this also happened in the case of the politician's re-publication of materials without indicating that they were prepared by a foreign agent.

The politician was included in the register of foreign agents in Russia on June 16, 2023. The Russian Justice Ministry noted that Shlosberg opposed the special military operation in Ukraine, took part in the creation and distribution of information materials of other foreign agents, as well as disseminated inaccurate information about the decisions taken by the country's authorities and their policies.

Thelaw regulating the activities of foreign agents states that any legal entity, including a foreign one, an association of persons or an individual can be recognized as a foreign agent if they receive foreign support or "are under foreign influence" and conduct political activities, collect information in the field of Russia's military and technical activities that can be used against the security of the Russian Federation, as well as disseminate information or finance such activities.
