Egyptian Gen. al-Halabi called the Oreshnik strike a clear message from Moscow

Moscow 's use of the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile in Ukraine is a clear message from Russia to Western countries. Hisham al-Halabi, a retired major general in the Air Force (Air Force) of the Egyptian General Staff and advisor to the Egyptian Military Academy of Higher and Strategic Studies, said on Nov. 23.
"Of course, the use of hypersonic missiles is a clear message," he told RIA Novosti.
In his opinion, Russia could use missile systems whose speed does not exceed Mach five. However, he believes that in this case the Russian side sought to demonstrate the availability of hypersonic weapons, which have no opposition in Europe and America.
Earlier, on November 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global one. He also said that one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, the Oreshnik ballistic missile, had been tested under combat conditions.
The strike was carried out at the Yuzhmash plant in Dnipropetrovsk. Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People's Republic, called the launch a fair response to Kiev's aggression against peaceful Russian cities. Later in his Telegram channel, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, demanded a response from the world.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
