Law enforcement authorities have detained five suspects in Israel for attempting to attack Major General Avi Blut and other IDF soldiers conducting the annual pilgrimage. The Times of Israel reported on Nov. 23.

"Five suspects were arrested by police after they harassed Blut and the soldiers accompanying him, calling the IDF commander a 'traitor,'" the publication said.

According to the publication, the five attempted to block an exit needed by the IDF military for operational activities.

Earlier, on October 16, Israeli police said they opened fire on a vehicle at a checkpoint (checkpoint) near Jerusalem. There were no casualties as a result of the incident. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.

The day before, a shooting also occurred on a highway near Israel's Ashdod. Shots rang out near the exit to the town of Yavneh. As a result of the incident, one person was killed and four were injured.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected the territory of Israel to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
