Russia is not going to mobilize. This was stated by Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov on November 23.

"There is no talk of mobilization," he said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

The Kremlin official added that Russians are now actively signing contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry to serve in the special operation zone.

"There are a lot of these people - hundreds of people every day sign contracts and go to the special military operation," Peskov noted.

According to him, citizens who signed a contract with the Defense Ministry first undergo training courses where they are thoroughly prepared for service.

Earlier, on October 27, when asked by the agency whether there were enough volunteers and whether mobilization might be required, Peskov also said that there was no talk of mobilization in Russia.

Before that, in May, Peskov said that there was no need for mobilization in Russia, commenting on a Financial Times (FT) article that the country was actively recruiting volunteer contractors.

The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
