Trump nominated ex-football player Turner to be housing secretary


US President-elect Donald Trump proposed the candidacy of former American soccer player Scott Turner for the post of Minister of Housing and Urban Development. The corresponding statement on November 23, the politician published on his page in the social network Truth Social.
During the first presidential term of Trump, Turner was in the position of the first executive director of the White House Council on Opportunity and Renewal. Under Scott's leadership, the council attracted more than $50 billion in private investment, Trump said.
"Scott will work side by side with me to make America great again for every American," Donald Trump said in a statement.
Earlier in the day, Trump proposed U.S. House of Representatives member Lori Chavez-Derimer for the Labor Secretary seat. According to him, she is able to create conditions for work, improve the system of training for professions and raise wages at companies.
Reuters also reported that Trump may consider the candidacy of former acting Director of American National Intelligence Richard Grenell for the post of special envoy for the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. It is specified that there is currently no position of special envoy for Ukraine, but Trump plans to introduce it after the inauguration, although such a decision may not be made in the end.
The election for the 47th president of the United States took place on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
