Vyacheslav Vishnevsky, the co-owner of "Winter Cherry" convicted in the case of the fire in the shopping center, has been released on parole. This was reported by his lawyer Vadim Trifonov in conversation with Izvestia on November 23.

"The court considered that the investigative human circumstances were taken into account by the court, and made an absolutely legal decision. All I can comment on. Legality, including Vishnevsky's behavior in the pre-trial detention center, gave such results," he said.

Trifonov also specified that the Tomsk regional court refused to satisfy the appeal of the prosecutor's office against the decision to release Vishnevsky on parole.

In October 2022, it became known that Vishnevsky was sentenced to eight years for bribery. He was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment with a fine of 21 million rubles with serving his sentence in a strict regime colony.

Vishnevsky pleaded guilty in late September, noting that the state prosecution in the debate demanded ten years in prison and a fine for him as punishment. The defense insisted on a more lenient punishment.

The fire in the "Winter Cherry" occurred on March 25, 2018. As a result, 60 people died, 37 of whom were children. In total, there were 15 defendants in the criminal case. According to the version of the investigation, they joined together in an organized criminal group and only created the appearance of compliance with fire safety rules, and in fact saved money.

In June and September last year, the Kemerovo Regional Court, after considering appeals, partially changed the sentences of a number of defendants in the case. In November, the former general director of Zimnyaya Cherry, Nadezhda Suddenok, was also released from her prison sentence due to her deteriorating health.
