Media have learned of Grenell's possible appointment as US special envoy for Ukraine


US President-elect Donald Trump may consider the candidacy of former acting Director of US National Intelligence Richard Grenell for the post of special envoy for the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. This was reported by Reuters on November 23, citing a source.
"Grenell, who served as acting director of national intelligence during President Trump's 2017-2021 term, will play a key role in the new administration's efforts to end the conflict," the agency's material said.
Previously, Grenell was in the position of US ambassador to Germany and the American special envoy during the peace talks between Serbia and Kosovo.
It is specified that there is currently no position of special envoy for Ukraine, but Trump plans to introduce it after his inauguration, although such a decision may not be made in the end.
Earlier, on November 22, Trump proposed investor Scott Bessent as the new Treasury Secretary. He also specified that Bessent could help in establishing a "golden age of the United States" and strengthen the state's economy.
At the same time, he also proposed the nomination of former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as the U.S. Justice Secretary. The president-elect also noted Bondi's work to stop drug trafficking and reduce the number of drug-related deaths.
On Nov. 20, Trump nominated former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker to be the U.S. permanent representative to NATO. He called Whitaker a strong warrior and dedicated patriot and said he would "put America first."
The election for the 47th president of the United States was held on Nov. 5. In the popular vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
