One of the strongest shock waves in history from the collision of galaxies has reached the Earth. This November 22 reported the journal Monthly Notice of the Royal Astronomical Society.

It is specified that the wave was caused by the collision of the galaxy NGC 7318b with four others in the group Quintet Stephanus, which is 290 million light years from Earth, at a speed of 3.2 million km / h.

"This led to a large-scale shock wave", - stated in the material of the magazine.

It is noted that the shock front was similar to "the sonic boom of a jet fighter."

The magazine also added that such an event is a "rare chance" for all mankind, because such collisions in space are extremely rare.

Earlier, on November 11, it was reported that a powerful M-class flare occurred on the Sun. Scientists said that it lasted 31 minutes.
