Pentagon signs military contracts worth more than $1.3 billion


The U.S. Department of Defense has signed contracts for military production and supply of weapons worth more than $1.3 billion with large defense companies. This was reported in the press service of the department on November 22.
The largest contract was received by Lockheed Martin company totaling $869.9 for the production of F-35 Lot 20 fighter jets. The money should go to purchase equipment, components and materials. The airplanes will be supplied to the U.S. Air Force and Navy.
It is specified that the work will take place at facilities in Fort Worth in Texas, El Segundo in California, Wharton in the UK and Cameri in Italy. The plan is to be completed by spring 2031.
In addition, the second largest contract was awarded to Raytheon for $439 billion, which will be used to produce Evolved Seasparrow Missile Block II missiles for the Navy and international customers. Production is scheduled to be completed in June 2029.
Earlier, on October 29, the press service of the U.S. Department of Defense reported that the contract for the production of UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters for Australia, Brazil, Greece, Sweden and Thailand for the amount of at least $1.2 billion. The ministry's statement also shows that the contract was concluded with the manufacturer of this model of helicopters Sikorsky Aircraft - a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation.
