Crimean paratroopers seized Western AFU equipment in the border area of Kursk region

In one of the border districts of Kursk Region, during an attempted breakthrough by Ukrainian militants, units of the Guards Airborne Assault Don Cossack Regiment from Feodosiya of the Novorossiysk Guards Mountain Division of the Airborne Troops (VDV) destroyed units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) and seized Western-made equipment. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on November 23.

According to the agency, the winged infantry detected the enemy in time. The AFU fighters on armored vehicles ran into the positions of the Guards Airborne Assault Regiment. Crimean paratroopers stopped the enemy's advance by ambushing them, after which they defeated the enemy, destroyed a large number of AFU personnel and equipment, captured a Western-made Mastiff armored vehicle.

At the same time, after unsuccessful attempts to break through the militants head-on, they were destroyed.

"The command set a task, gave coordinates, studied the area, found this copy, reanimated it, decided to take away. We couldn't take it away on our own: there were a lot of technical difficulties. We called in a repair and evacuation team, our comrades, who did their job with an A+," said a serviceman of the Russian Armed Forces with the call sign Dizel.

Earlier, on November 11, Russian paratroopers evacuated from the battlefield and repaired trophy infantry fighting vehicle M2 Bradley made in the United States and Turkish armored vehicle Kirpi AFU in the border area of Kursk region. It is specified that the evacuation took place in two stages. Initially, the military conducted an engineering reconnaissance of the area to ensure the safety of personnel. After that, the equipment was evacuated and delivered to the repair unit of Tula paratroopers.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
