A psychologist spoke about the benefits of baths for immunity and mental health

Mental health and immune system can be improved with a relaxing trip to the bathhouse, as hot air has a positive effect on both the body and mental state. Practicing psychologist Marina Rodnova told Gazeta.Ru on November 23.
"High temperature and humidity in the bathhouse contribute to the expansion of blood vessels, improve blood circulation and accelerate metabolism. As a result - relaxation and removal of muscle spasms. A person feels pleasant fatigue," she said.
The psychologist noted that the bathhouse - a small, dark and warm room - can be subconsciously associated with the safety of the womb. Being in a bath soothingly affect the nervous system, due to which the human body produces hormones of joy - endorphins. And deep breathing helps to reduce the level of stress hormone, cortisol, in the blood.
She also pointed out the beneficial effects of going to the bathhouse on the immune system. Regular visits stimulate the production of antibodies, increase resistance to infections and speed up recovery processes after illnesses.
"And, of course, one cannot underestimate the meditative components of a bathhouse: the rhythmic and soothing crackling of wood, the pleasant aroma of heated wood and enveloping steam. This atmosphere gently immerses a person in himself, concentrates on his thoughts and feelings. This process promotes deep self-reflection, realization of inner conflicts and search for solutions", - the psychologist pointed out.
Rodnova noted. that the bathhouse should not be heated above 60 degrees, take alcohol and be overly active. According to her, the bathhouse should be "a place to dialog" with yourself in maximum comfort.
Earlier, on November 22, psychotherapist Julia Kolesova told about ways to combat the decline of strength in the fall and winter period. Thus, she recommended eating right, walking in the fresh air and observing sleep hygiene, sleep and wakefulness regimes.
