Two underage cyclists died in an accident on the highway near the town of Kushva in the Sverdlovsk region. About it on November 23 reported in the State traffic police of the region.

"According to preliminary data, the driver of the car "Ford Explorer" when making an overtaking with violation of traffic rules did not make sure that the oncoming lane is free at a sufficient distance for the maneuver, as a result of which hit two minor cyclists moving towards the traffic", - specified in the message in the Telegram-channel.

The cyclists died on the spot before the arrival of an ambulance. On the fact of the accident initiated a criminal case on violation of traffic rules, causing the death of two or more persons by negligence. The 49-year-old driver of the car was detained and placed in a temporary detention center.

In addition, Dmitry Kuznetsov, acting chief state traffic inspector of the Sverdlovsk region, traveled to the scene of the accident to clarify the circumstances. The results of the inspection revealed the absence of a sidewalk and stationary lighting, which had been previously identified by the department's staff. The owner of the road had to eliminate these shortcomings of the road network.

Earlier, on November 22, the driver of a Gelandewagen fatally hit a pensioner crossing the road at a crosswalk in the Kemerovo region. A criminal case has been opened over the accident, and the man faces up to five years in prison.
