Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term of office expired on 20 May, was "misguided" when he suggested the country as a testing ground for new types of weapons. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on 22 November.

Earlier, on October 18, Zelensky said that Ukraine plays an important role as a testing ground for Western weapons. He noted that this gives "added value" to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Also according to him, Western partners are satisfied with the experience gained at the front.

"I remember how Zelensky, Reznikov and other representatives of the Kiev regime regularly suggested Ukraine as a testing ground for new types of weapons - nakarkali", she wrote in her Telegram channel.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 21 that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, which made the regional conflict acquire elements of a global one. He also said that a test of the Oreshnik ballistic missile took place under combat conditions.

The strike was made on the plant "Yuzhmash" in Dnepropetrovsk. Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People's Republic, called the launch a fair response to Kiev's aggression against peaceful Russian cities.

At the same time, Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said in a briefing that Russia had notified Washington about the launch of the Oreshnik. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained on November 22, Moscow did not warn the United States about the launch of Russia's new Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM), but an automatic alert was triggered.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
