Medvedev says Russia supports UN decisions on Middle East conflict

Russia supports all decisions of the United Nations (UN) on the settlement of the conflict between Palestine and Israel. This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev on November 22.
"Russia supports UN resolutions on the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict," he said in an interview with Al Arabiya TV channel.
Medvedev stressed that Russia considers the International Criminal Court's (ICC) arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant "illegitimate."
The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former head of the country's Defense Ministry Yoav Galant on November 21. The decision was made because Netanyahu and Galant are criminally responsible as civilian chiefs "for the war crime of deliberately attacking a civilian population."
On November 22, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the ICC's decision to issue an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and the country's former Defense Ministry chief Yoav Galant will in no way help end the conflict in the Middle East.
The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, when Hamas launched a massive rocket attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip and invaded border areas in the south of the country and took hostages. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes against targets in the Gaza Strip.
