The Oreshnik medium-range missile can hit targets across Europe. This was announced by Strategic Missile Forces chief Sergei Karakaev during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 22.

"Based on the tasks set and the range of this weapon, it can hit targets throughout Europe, which distinguishes it favorably from other long-range precision weapons," he said.

Karakayev specified that Oreshnik demonstrates high efficiency in defeating both single and group targets, including objects with powerful defenses. According to him, the development of the missile system will expand the combat capabilities of the Strategic Missile Forces.

On the same day, Putin said during a meeting that the Oreshnik is not only hypersonic, but also a strategic weapon. According to him, the Russian Federation will continue testing the medium-range missile, including in combat conditions.

A day earlier, the Russian president said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global one. He also said that a test of the Oreshnik ballistic missile had taken place under combat conditions.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
