Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova reacted on November 22 to the words of US Senator Tom Cotton, who threatened to invade countries that would execute the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Dutch authorities had earlier announced their readiness to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu under the ICC warrant. Reacting to this, Cotton called on the US to invade the country. As Middle East Eye noted, the Republican senator criticized the ICC, citing a US law that allows the president to use "all necessary and appropriate means" to release Americans or their allies detained by the court.

Commenting on the situation, the diplomat recalled that Cotton called the ICC in The Hague a "travesty of justice" and the court's prosecutor Karim Khan a "deranged bigot."

"I am waiting for: the expulsion of US diplomats from The Hague, and then from other EU countries (in solidarity); the British Prime Minister's speech in Parliament with a statement about the "hilly-likely" threat to the life of His Majesty's subject, Karim Khan," she wrote in her Telegram channel.

In addition, Zakharova indicated that she was expecting a statement from US President Joe Biden on supporting the Netherlands as a NATO ally, Gazeta.Ru added.

The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and Galant on November 21. It was noted that they are accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes. Biden called the ICC decision outrageous and noted that the country will always support Israel against threats to its security. In turn, Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp noted that the Netherlands is ready to arrest Netanyahu if he arrives in the country.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that the ICC decisions will in no way help to end the conflict in the Middle East.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, when Hamas subjected the territory of Israel to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip, as well as invaded the border areas in the south of the country and took hostages. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes against targets in the Gaza Strip.
