The cause of the disease of schoolchildren in Novocheboksarsk was norovirus in catering workers

The cause of the disease of children at school No. 4 in Novocheboksarsk was norovirus, which they contracted from catering workers. This was reported on November 22 by the head of the Chuvash Republic Oleg Nikolaev.

He noted the importance of taking measures to quickly eliminate the identified violations in the food service and resumption of the full educational process with hot meals.

"It is established that the source of the spread of norovirus was the infection of two employees of the catering organization of JSC "Cheboksarsky bakery No. 2", - said in the message Nikolaev in Telegram-channel.

He reported that 217 children applied to medical institutions of Chuvashia, 203 children were confirmed to have norovirus. According to him, at the moment all children have recovered and are ready to start the educational process.

In connection with the incident Nikolaev instructed to assess the actions of the head and the Department of Education of the city administration.

The mass illness of children and adults at school № 4 in Novocheboksarsk, Chuvash Republic, became known on November 15. The victims were diagnosed with gastroenteritis. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case, and an inspection of the incident was also organized.
