The domestic school of rocket engineering has a huge potential to protect the country's sovereignty. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this on November 22 at a meeting with the leadership of the Defense Ministry, defense industrial complex (DIC) enterprises and developers of missile weapons.

He pointed out that this is proved by the results and speed of the newest domestic missile "Oreshnik".

"The results achieved and the speed of development of the new system really arouse pride and admiration. They convincingly demonstrate that the domestic school of rocket engineering has a huge potential and is capable of solving the most complex tasks to ensure Russia's security and sovereignty," the Russian leader said.

The head of state noted that the country has a colossal technological base, a strong industrial rear and a weapon system to protect its security, which is a reliable guarantor of territorial integrity.

Earlier, on November 21, Putin said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global one. He also said that a test of the Oreshnik ballistic missile had taken place under combat conditions.

The strike was made on the plant "Yuzhmash" in Dnepropetrovsk. Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People's Republic, called the launch a fair response to Kiev's aggression against peaceful Russian cities.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
