Putin announced the continuation of tests of the Oreshnik missile in combat conditions

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 22 that Russia will continue testing the Oreshnik medium-range missile, including in combat conditions.
"We will continue these tests, including in combat conditions, depending on the situation and the nature of security threats posed to Russia," he said at a meeting with the leadership of the Defense Ministry, defense industry enterprises and developers of missile weapons.
The Russian leader noted that the Russian Federation has a stockpile of Oreshnik missile systems. He also drew attention to the fact that this armament is not a modernization of old Soviet systems.
"The Oreshnik missile system is not just an effective hypersonic weapon. By virtue of its striking power, especially when used en masse, in groups, and even in combination with other precision long-range systems that Russia also has, the results of its use against enemy facilities will be comparable in effect, in its power to strategic weapons," Putin emphasized.
Earlier, on November 21, Putin said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global one. He also said that a test of the Oreshnik ballistic missile had taken place under combat conditions.
The strike was made on the plant "Yuzhmash" in Dnepropetrovsk. Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People's Republic, called the launch a fair response to Kiev's aggression against peaceful Russian cities.
At the same time, Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said in a briefing that Russia had notified Washington about the launch of the Oreshnik. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained on November 22, Moscow did not warn the United States about the launch of Russia's new Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM), but an automatic alert was triggered.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
