Court postpones Trump's sentencing in falsifying business records case

The court in New York postponed the sentencing of US President-elect Donald Trump, scheduled for November 26, in the case of falsification of business documents. This is evidenced by the court's ruling, writes The New York Times on November 22.
"The court decided to grant the joint motion to delay sentencing," the document reads.
It is specified that the court agreed to allow Trump's lawyer to appeal the verdict. By December 2, a motion must be filed by the President-elect's lawyers, and by December 9, the prosecutor's office must respond to it, the ruling said.
According to the prosecution's version, Trump became intimate with porn actress Stormy Daniels in 2006, and in 2016 his lawyer Michael Cohen paid $130,000 in exchange for a nondisclosure agreement. After his election to the presidency, Trump reimbursed Cohen's financial spending by disguising the payments as legal fees. The checks totaled $420,000.
In May, a jury found Trump guilty in the case of forgery of financial documents. The President-elect himself said after the meeting that it was nothing more than falsification, behind which is the current head of state Joe Biden, who wants to get rid of the main rival in the past elections. Later, Trump called the jury's decision on the first case a scam and pointed out that now every American is under the threat of criminal prosecution.
Before that it was reported that the case of former US President Donald Trump about improper storage of classified documents was postponed indefinitely. According to the judge, additional pre-trial and trial preparations needed to present the case to the jury.
Before that, on April 21, Bloomberg reported that by the end of March, former U.S. President Donald Trump spent $4.9 million on legal fees. Meanwhile, it became known from reports on the financing of his election campaign that only $6.8 million remained in the accounts for payment of Trump's lawyers. Thus, Bloomberg writes, the former U.S. president is forced to look for new sources of funding to cover the costs of lawyers.
