Four Italian UN peacekeepers were wounded as a result of live ammunition hitting their position in southern Lebanon. The official Telegram channel of the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported on November 22.

"Rockets hit the UNIFIL headquarters in Sector West, injuring four Italian peacekeepers. They are now receiving treatment at the hospital. Fortunately, none of the injuries are life-threatening," the report said.

According to the peacekeeping force, a logistics area used by the international military police was hit.

This is the third attack on the UNIFIL base in a week, the report said, calling on both sides of the conflict to avoid fighting near their positions and recalling that the inviolability of UN premises and personnel must be respected at all times.

"Any attack on peacekeepers constitutes a serious violation of international law," UNIFIL pointed out.

The report noted that "the rockets were likely fired by Hezbollah or affiliated groups."

Prior to that, on November 18, the emergency operations center under the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that at least 11 people were killed in Israeli raids on the outskirts of the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon. Earlier on Nov. 15, Lebanon's health ministry reported 59 deaths as a result of the Israeli attack. In addition, 182 local residents were wounded.

Meanwhile, on November 12, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said that there will be no ceasefire in Lebanon. According to him, the Israeli army will continue to strike the Shiite Hezbollah movement until the war's goals are achieved.

The escalation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah came after the events of Sept. 17 and 18, when thousands of people, including employees of the movement, were injured when pagers and other communication devices exploded in Lebanon. The country blamed Tel Aviv for what happened. Since then, Israel has continued to eliminate the leadership of the Shiite movement and strike Lebanese territory.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected the territory of Israel to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
