As a result of the negotiation process, 46 residents of Kursk Region have returned to Russia from Ukraine. This was announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova on November 22.

"Today 46 residents of Kursk region returned to Russia from Ukraine as a result of the negotiation process with the Ukrainian side. Together with their relatives and the whole country we rejoice at their return home," she wrote in her Telegram channel.

Moskalkova specified that among the citizens returned to Russia there are 12 children, including one newborn and a three-year-old child, as well as a wheelchair user.

Earlier, on October 21, Galina Belousova, a resident of Kursk region, said that Ukrainian militants had offered residents of local villages to leave for Ukraine after the invasion of the region. According to her, the villagers did not trust the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This attitude was aggravated by information that the AFU sent people to Ukraine against their will and no one knows what happened to the Russians who were taken away afterwards.

On September 24, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik, said that the Russian Federation had a roll-call list of Kursk Region residents held by the AFU, and the list had been handed over to law enforcement agencies. The ambassador added that the list was compiled based on reports from relatives of missing residents of the region.

Before that, on September 5, the evacuated resident of Suzhi Tamila Shepil thanked the Russian military for helping civilians to leave the city during the AFU invasion. The woman said that those events were different from all previous attacks. First, the houses lost electricity, then communications and water. This was followed by massive shelling.

Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The operation to destroy the AFU continues.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
