In Kuzbass, a Gelandewagen driver fatally ran over a pensioner at a crosswalk

In the Kuzbass city of Prokopyevsk, the driver of a Gelandewagen fatally ran over a pensioner who was crossing the road at a crosswalk. This was reported on November 22 by the Main Department (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kemerovo region.

"It is established that the driver was previously convicted for repeated drunk driving. In addition, since the beginning of 2024, he was 130 times brought to administrative responsibility for violations of traffic rules, including 124 - for exceeding the established speed", - stated in the Telegram-channel of the department.

On the fact of the accident initiated a criminal case under part 3 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of road traffic and operation of vehicles"). The man faces up to five years of imprisonment. At the moment the question of choosing a measure of restraint is being decided.

On the same day, eight people were injured in a traffic accident in Tbilisi district of Krasnodar region. The driver of a BMW, overtaking, drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a Toyota. Three people were hospitalized, five people were treated at the scene.
