Weather forecaster told about snow and snowstorm in Moscow amid cyclone "Caetano"

A Balkan cyclone, which some forecasters call "Caetano", is expected in Moscow and the Moscow region in the coming night. Snow is forecast at times, and a snowstorm is possible, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist of the Meteonovosti information agency, told Izvestia on November 22. She also noted that the atmospheric pressure will rise sharply from Saturday to Sunday, which will have a bad effect on weather-sensitive people.

"This is an ordinary Balkan southern cyclone, which often comes out to the European territory of Russia in winter time and in summer too. It is with such cyclones of southern origin that we get the most precipitation in our region. This cyclone is formed on the wave of a cold atmospheric front, which stretches", - explained the forecaster.

The expert specified that the main weather-forming cyclone so far is the cyclone, which is over the Leningrad region, over Karelia. And a wave has formed on the cold front of this cyclone. As a result, another cyclone was formed over the Balkans, and it already as an independent vortex will rise to the north, northeast.

"In the zone of this cyclone we will be in the coming night. It is moving very quickly, so in the coming night we expect at times snow, wet snow, in some places even heavy. It is not excluded that a snowstorm will rise in some places, because the wind gusts will remain: at night somewhere 12-15 m/s. But the air temperature will remain almost the same as this afternoon: in Moscow -1...+1 degrees. In the region: from -2 to +2 degrees", - said Pozdnyakova.

According to her, November 23 in the first half of the day precipitation in the form of wet snow and rain will still persist, but still wet snow will prevail, because the temperature is low: 0...+2 in Moscow, and in the region - from -2 to +3 degrees. In some places, ice is formed.

At the same time, a small snow is possible on the night of November 24. In the daytime precipitation is not expected.

"Atmospheric pressure from Saturday to Sunday will rise sharply, which will affect badly on weather-sensitive people - almost 20 units. No significant precipitation is expected on Sunday. We will be in the rear of this cyclone, so the temperature will begin to fall. Already on the 24th it will be negative both at night and during the day. At night: -3...-5. During the day: -1...-3. And by the middle of next week frosts will intensify: at night: -6...-11. During the day 0...-5", - concluded the forecaster.

Earlier in the day it was reported that this winter in all regions of Russia is expected a positive deviation from the climatic norm. This follows from the forecast of meteorologists "Yandex Weather". There will be no temperature records, but forecasters have not ruled out the possibility of one-off severe cold spells. The coldest winter is predicted in Siberia. According to meteorologists, in Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and Omsk the average seasonal temperature will drop to -14 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the warmest winter weather is expected in the largest cities of Southern Russia: Krasnodar (+2.7 degrees) and Rostov-on-Don (-0.8 degrees).
